In th4e top left is a depiction of the chimney from Blue Circle cement works, now demolished and part of the site of the proposed ski centre. Not sure about the other building.

I worked at the Firs Whitchurch when it was the HQ of the Oral Health Care company Oral-B in 1977

it seems that there was a church at that time and it was almost certainly on the site of the present Aston St Mary’s, which was dedicated in 1505. Prior to this, in 1430 and 1490 Aston Church was referred to as “St. James”.

The Church is St Johns not St James. The local craftsman is Trevor Adams. Nice photo!
